On a sunny afternoon, Bishop Burton played host to the Ladies' College football tournament for the teams around the region.
The first game game was against Wyke College and Bishop Burton had a fantastic start to the tournament, with their heads up high and energy pumping. The team have worked on passing skills and movement and kept their positional shape. In this game they won 1-0, with the only goal scored by Becky.
The next game was Franklin College, who the team had played the previous week. Carisa was dominating the midfield, and made some great passes to Emma and Becky up front as they made some excellent attempts on goal. Sarah (Captain) kept the defence tight and worked well together with goalie Zoe as she made some great goal kicks. Unfortunately this match was lost 1-0, but confidence remained high.
The next game was against Wilberforce College. Bishop Burton had an advantage in this game as they enjoyed a 10 minute break before the game, so had time to rest and reorganise. This was the best match that the team played all afternoon, working well as a team, and showing great unity. Emma had some fantastic shots at the goal, but neither team scored so it then went to penalties. The shoot-out went to sudden death and unfortunately, it was Wilberforce who proceeded to the final.
The 3rd/4th place game was against Franklin College again. The teamwork was excellent and the team worked hard on their skills. This game remained goalless, so it went to penalties again, which this time the team won. Bishop Burton Ladies came 3rd overall in the tournament.
