Scholarships
As part of an exciting new partnership with Hull RUFC, the College is now offering scholarships to talented rugby players from across the East Riding area and beyond. Whether you have played at school or age-group representative level, or, demonstrate the talent and commitment to excel in rugby union, we will consider all applications. Mature and International students will also be considered.
Scholarships in other sporting disciplines will be introduced in the near future.
Bishop Burton College is proud of its high quality reputation in delivering academic excellence. With a large sports redevelopment programme nearing completion, the College is now looking to extend the scope and quality of its sporting provision. As part of a developing relationship with Hull RUFC, the College is now able to offer rugby scholarships to candidates of outstanding sporting ability, who show evidence of achievement or potential at regional and/or national level.
A new range of Sports and Fitness foundation courses and degrees will be offered by the College in the upcoming academic year 2009/10. Potential scholars must be enrolled on any of the Higher Education Courses offered by the College for the year 2009/10. Entry criteria are specified in the prospectus. All scholarships offered relate to academic fees and accommodation for the year 2009/10.
The aims of the Scholarship scheme are:
· To recruit talented athletes to study at Bishop Burton College.
· To retain and develop talented rugby players in the East Riding area.
· To provide athletes with the best possible environment to achieve their academic and sporting goals.

Hull RUFC Entry Requirements
Scholars will be expected to fulfil the RFU registration criteria and to register and play for Hull RUFC. The Director of Rugby at Hull RUFC is dual-code international Tevita Vaikona, and the coaching staff includes Maea David, ex-Junior All Black, and Lee Radford, Hull FC Captain and England International.
Bishop Burton College Entry Requirements
Scholars must fulfil academic commitments to remain on the programme. The scholarship is for one year only but can be renewable for a further 2 years, subject to satisfactory academic progress, sporting performance and general conduct. Students must apply for each academic year of study following staff assessment and criteria review.
First year Higher Education students can be resident in the College accommodation. Scholars must comply with residential regulations, remain enrolled at Bishop Burton College and achieve the Sports Academy’s attendance and duty requirements.
If a student fails to achieve academic targets, the College will reserve the right to withdraw the scholarship, and to follow the procedures laid down in College Regulations regarding withdrawals.
General
The College will make every effort to accommodate your training and performance needs, however no dispensation is offered from the normal course requirements in terms of assessment, progression or award classification.
The Scholarship is dependent upon satisfying a full physical and medical assessment by College Sports Academy staff at the onset of your course. It is also subject to you reserving your accommodation place at the College.
Should injury prevent you from attaining training and match performance targets, successful applications will be based on satisfactory academic progress.
